Charisma Hopkins – “The Eldest Sister”

The Eldest Sister

“primrose?”
a flash of light, an explosion
the grief of an eldest sister
the tears
the screams
the memories of the childhood shared
a bond stronger than anybody could imagine

primrose.
the bright colored petals
the bright eyes of young girls
who look at me like i hung the stars
and like i have the answers to the universe

rain.
young, energetic, beautiful
graceful as it showers over the land
watering the flowers and the grass
expanding the charm of the environment
the one whose smile lights my world
and whose laugh lifts my spirits

river.
ever changing, rushing water
as i blink, it changes
evolving into something else
something older
my reflection i see in her
but not as i see myself
i see a better version
one who has a guiding star to help

primrose. rain. river.
the symbols of my love
of my joy
of my pride
